How It Works

SoleRest is a slim, foldable mat that sends gentle EMS pulses through the soles of your feet while you sit. Nothing to grip, nothing to hold, no bending over a machine. You put your feet on it and let it run.

Three steps

  1. Unroll it and check the charge. Lay the pad flat on the floor in front of a chair, couch, or desk. A full USB charge takes about [FILL IN: charge time] and lasts roughly [FILL IN: number of sessions].
  2. Bare feet, flat on the pad. Skin contact is what carries the pulse. Socks and slippers block it almost entirely, so the pad will feel like nothing at all through them.
  3. Start low and work up. Press start, then raise the intensity one level at a time until you feel a steady, comfortable pulse. If it stings or makes your foot jump hard, come back down a level.

What it actually feels like

At the lowest levels, a faint tingle under the arch, a bit like your foot buzzing. As you turn it up, that tingle becomes a rhythmic squeeze-and-release as the muscles in your soles contract and let go. Most people settle somewhere in the middle of the range and stay there.

The first session usually feels strange rather than pleasant. That is normal. Give it two or three sessions before you decide what you think of it.

Twenty minutes, then it stops

A built-in timer ends the session automatically, so there is no harm in losing track of time or dozing off partway through. When it stops, it stops.

Pad only, or pad with remote

Pad only puts the controls on the mat itself. To change modes you lean forward and press the panel with your hand or foot.

Pad + remote adds a handheld controller. If leaning down is uncomfortable, or the reason you wanted a foot device in the first place, the remote is the version to get. It is the difference between adjusting the setting and just leaving it where it is.

Where people use it

Under a desk during work. In front of the TV. At the end of a long shift, before bed. It is quiet enough that nobody in the room will know it is on, and it folds flat afterward and slides under a couch or into a drawer.

Before your first session, please read this

Do not use SoleRest if you:

  • Have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or any other implanted electronic or metal device
  • Are pregnant
  • Have epilepsy or a seizure disorder
  • Have a known blood clot, or a history of deep vein thrombosis
  • Have open wounds, sores, rashes, or broken skin on your feet

Talk to your doctor before using it if you: have diabetes, reduced feeling or numbness in your feet, a heart condition, or any circulatory problem. Reduced sensation is the one that matters most, because you may not feel an intensity level that is too high for you.

Also: use it on dry, bare feet. Do not use it in the bath, shower, or anywhere near water. Do not use it while driving or operating anything. Stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, or skin irritation.
